Vernon T. Bateman was among several featured panelists at the book launch of Shaka A. Shakur’s Manifestations of Thought: When the Dragon Comes (1804 Books, 2025). Shaka and Vernon met at Pendleton Correctional Facility and both continue struggling for human rights for all. In this segment, Vernon speaks to Shaka’s consistency, influence, and ability to build relationships in isolated housing units.
The book launch, which was hosted by The People’s Forum in NYC, took place in early December 2025. Because of arbitrary and unduly restrictive parole stipulations, Vernon participated by phone.
